I am currently working at the Mauna Kea Cloudforest Bioreserve, where we focus on planting both conifers and native trees in a botanical garden and arboretum setting. We have recently opened up tours to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about our work, and I will soon be leading these tours.I am engaged in a work-trade program, performing manual labor tasks such as tree maintenance, planting, Airbnb turnovers, and carpentry work around the Bioreserve.Additionally, I am completing an internship under Dr. Axel Kratel, where I am learning key skills such as grant writing, scientific thinking, and, most importantly, developing strategies to bring Hawaii into the voluntary carbon credit market through Plan Vivo. Recently, I presented a PowerPoint to a city council contact, outlining our plans to get the Bioreserve recognized as an approved Plan Vivo project. Through this internship, I am also honing my organizational skills by using Kanban boards to manage projects efficiently.
