About Timothy Watkins
As President and CEO of WLCAC, a primary concern and area of focus is in the area of public policy and how it often exacerbates and perpetuates poverty. Along with my day-to-day responsibility for operating the WLCAC, I research and develop of legislative recommendations or revisions that positively impact the quality of life for residents of Watts and neighboring communities. Because I\'m a firm believer in the use the use of cultural enrichment as a means of healing the human spirit in places like Watts, I\'m leading a much needed discussion on the concept of Social Enterprise as a long-term solution to poverty and neglect. Specialties: Specialties include the application of federal resources to local social service programs in areas of great need. Expertise in non-profit administration through public/private partnerships and collaborations. Keen interest in institutional relationships that invite grass-root participation from inception to fruition in the search for sustainable solutions to poverty.

Responsibilities include providing executive oversight to a non-profit community development corporation established in 1965 dedicated to improving the quality of life for underserved. Employing nearly 300, WLCAC manages a $20M annual operating budget to support services spanning the spectrum of human need from infant care to the elderly. Services also include after school enrichment for youth, art and cultural experiences, job training and development, health and nutrition, mental health, homeless shelter and access services, transitional and permanent housing, transportation, weatherization, handyworker, construction, development, and public policy research.
