ABOUT TIMOTHY SIMCOE

Timothy S. Simcoe is the David J. McGrath Jr. Professor of Strategy and Innovation at the Boston University Questrom School of Business. He is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and in 2014 he served as a Senior Economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. Dr. Simcoe’s research focuses on the economics of innovation and industrial organization, with a particular emphasis on industry standards, intellectual property, innovation policy, and business strategy. He has published in the American Economic Review, Management Science, the Journal of Political Economy, the RAND Journal of Economics, Organization Science, Strategic Management Review, and Strategy Science. Professor Simcoe serves on the editorial board of several journals and has been appointed to numerous expert panels. He has testified as an expert witness on matters related to antitrust and intellectual property. Dr. Simcoe holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard, along with an M.A. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
