Proven track record of success in pharmaceutical R&D, including overall strategic and tactical leadership, particularly for early drug development (pre-development candidate nomination thru Phase 2 Clinical ‘Proof of Concept’) and cross-functional teams across disease areas and therapeutic modalities (small molecules and proteins/biologics; also some gene and cell therapies).• Drug development expertise across a wide range of therapeutic areas including oncology and hematology, immunology and auto-immunity, virology, fibrotic and metabolic conditions as well as cardiovascular and neuromuscular diseases.• Significant contributions to over 150 clinical stage molecules with direct development leadership for >35 molecules, a number of which have moved into registrational development.• Significant management and mentorship skills including matrix leadership roles spanning across the R&D organization as well as direct departmental and people leadership.• Proven track record in leading and in team evaluation of in-house discovery/ development opportunities and in technical due diligence evaluations of novel business development in-licensing and partnership opportunities, including successful licensing collaborations and corporate acquisitions (some noteworthy examples include but are not limited to Ambrx Inc, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Kosan Biosciences, Inhibitex, Cormorant Pharmaceuticals, IFM Therapeutics, Nektar Therapeutics, Celgene, DragonFly, MyoKardia).• Broad and detailed understanding of disciplines across the pharmaceutical R&D continuum including discovery, clinical and regulatory development, toxicology, pharmacology, molecular/cellular biology, immunology and metabolism & pharmacokinetics.• Substantial experience in review and input on research grants across varied disciplines.• Strong investigative/mechanistic problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication skills, including with investor and public relations.
