ABOUT TIMOTHY PENNY

As you grow, you spend time exploring your passions and interests. For me this was always a struggle. As I pursued my education and explored my options, I found myself at a loss for that spark. That intriguing art that brings you joy and satisfaction. This all changed after I created my first film. I had always loved films, weather it was a movie, TV show, or music video. But the idea of creating one before this point was lost to me. Buried under self doubt and lack of experience. It was a small project I created with a group of friends for a film festival at our school. While working on this project, I found myself more motivated and excited than I had ever felt about any kind of project before. It was life changing. When the festival came around, watching something I had directed, edited and produced shown on a big screen to my friends and peers brought me that joy and satisfaction for the first time in my life. It was an electric yet relieving feeling. I was ready to get my life started following this passion.I started studying cinema at the University of Iowa. Since then, my knowledge and motivation has only grown stronger. I have taken multiple courses in film history, film theory, screenwriting and production. I have studied creative writing at our Unesco writing center. I have worked on multiple projects through the University as well as outside the University and on my own. My specialties include quickly learning new skills, organization, communication and teamwork. Efficient in Premiere Pro CC, Microsoft office, handling and operating film equipment, camera operation and German.
