ABOUT TIMOTHY J. FINCHER
I began my career working in sales and an outside sales Representative for Xtra Lease in Greensboro, NC. I traveled the region leasing trailers of all types to trucking and logistics companies. Then, I moved to Huntsville, Al and began working for Southern Company as an outside sales rep. for Southern LINC, selling communications equipment to businesses, law enforcement and other governmental entities, including NASA and the U. S Army. Then, I moved within Southern Company to Alabama Power Company in Birmingham. I worked in Commercial and Industrial Marketing, servicing the largest existing electricity users in the Birmingham Division and working with architects and engineers designing new commercial and industrial facilities. I promoted and advanced the growth of electric end-use technologies, and new business development. After returning to law school while working, and passing the bar exam, I was promoted to External Affairs Manager for the Birmingham Division of APC. I served as the contact and face of the company to local elected officials, economic development organizations and the community at-large. I organized public meetings, presented on APC issues at city council/county commission meetings, as well as strategized, organized and presented at zoning hearings and other governmental functions. I was also the liaison to local philanthropic organizations, promoted entities and efforts that aligned with our business and community needs.Next, I moved to the Real Estate Department at APC and worked acquiring distribution and transmission line right of way. I managed multiple multi-million dollar transmission line projects, acquiring the necessary land and rights to meet the company\'s growth needs for reliable electric infrastructure. I also acquired land in fee for APC facilities to be constructed, and managed the projects from start to finish. This included site selection, negotiations with property owners, title research, contract review and execution, local zoning, permitting and conducting real estate closings. Then, I moved to the APC Real Estate - Land Legal group. There I negotiated and managed agreements with railroads, state and federal agencies and major corporations. I drafted, reviewed, analyzed, managed and executed legal contracts and provided counsel to our internal organizations as it relates to land and land rights. Now, I work at Colliers Engineering and Design as Department Manager in the Land Services Division. I manage complex real estate acquisition projects for clients in utility and transportation sectors.
