About Timothy Dumas
With over 37 years of experience in the financial services industry, Tim focuses on the growth, preservation, and distribution of wealth for affluent families and individuals. Tim works with clients to develop an integrated, multi-generational, wealth plan and then manages its implementation and execution. He has a communication regimen which offers regular client contact and portfolio reviews. Service is important to Tim and he works extremely hard to give clients the best experience possible. Tim began his career in 1988 as a Financial Advisor with Prudential Securities in Houston. He eventually transitioned into leadership roles where he trained Financial Advisors in both New York and La Jolla at Prudential\'s national training centers, and served as branch manager in Fort Myers and Buffalo. In 1996 Tim moved to Manhattan to lead Prudential\'s Financial Advisor training program. After 13 years with Prudential Securities he joined Legg Mason as Manager of Legg Mason\'s two Houston branch offices. He expanded the firm\'s footprint in Texas by opening and managing an office in Dallas. Tim joined Morgan Keegan in 2003 as branch manager in Sarasota prior to joining Merrill Lynch Wealth Management as a Financial Advisor in 2011. Tim has a B.A. in History from Louisiana Tech University and pursued his M.B.A. at Louisiana State University. He has obtained his FINRA Series 7, 8, 31, 63, 65 and 66 securities registrations, as well as his life, health, and long-term care insurance licenses. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Tim has two children, Ariane and Brett. He is a resident of Sarasota, Florida where he is active in the community serving on various non-profit boards and civic associations. He enjoys tennis at the Gasparilla Inn & Club, gardening, gourmet cooking, and salt water fishing. On Autumn Saturdays he is often bayou-bound as he returns to Louisiana to cheer for the Fighting Tigers of LSU.
