ABOUT TIM MORRIS
Good software sits somewhere between design and code. That is where I tend to spend my time, in the place where promising ideas either become useful products or turn out to require rather more engineering than anyone expected.These days I build front end software for one of the world’s leading digital signage platforms, creating systems that power screens in offices, hospitals, shops and transport hubs. Interfaces designed to be understood from across a room rather than at arm’s length.Technically my world is mostly React, TypeScript and Next.js, often inside large Nx monorepos. But the real work is usually architectural. Designing systems that teams can understand, interfaces that feel obvious to users, and codebases that remain readable long after the first version ships.Alongside that work I use AI assisted development tools every day. GitHub Copilot, Cursor models and LLM based agents are now part of my normal engineering workflow.Used well they shorten feedback loops, accelerate prototyping and make large codebases easier to navigate. Used badly they generate a great deal of confident nonsense.After many years building software the traditional way, I see these tools as exactly that: tools. They do not replace engineering judgement or clear thinking, but they do change how quickly ideas can become working software.
