An experienced Information Security strategist, with expertise across the full spectrum of risk management, operations, technology and architecture. A specialist in building or rebooting security programs all the way from culture through to metrics and analytics, and able to build, execute, and sell a coherent strategic vision that balances pragmatism with vigilance.A strong leader with a deep grasp of compliance issues (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST, SOX, privacy), technology (SIEM, networking, SDLC, SaaS, cloud, analytics), architecture, and specialist sub-disciplines including DR, BCP, GRC, and IAM.An expert communicator, always focused on team-building and organizational dynamics, and deeply experienced in vendor management, audit management, contract negotiations, and board interactions. I started off as a research mathematician, but have always moved outside my comfort zone, into areas including information security, consulting, audits and risk management, expert systems and AI, and entrepreneurship. Along the way I\'ve worked in startups and in major multinationals, founded companies, been a CISO, a CTO, and a CEO, lived on a few different continents, and learned a lot.
