ABOUT TIM WARD
I am currently working for the UKs leading youth homelessness charity, Centrepoint, in a role that combines managing a pool of volunteers across the region from a cradle to grave approach, with the development and delivery of a variety of training development packages to staff across the North of England. After spending 13 years in engineering and manufacturing, during which I completed a HND in Metallurgy and materials, I had a change of direction and worked for Victim Support managing a project to deliver outreach services to the Bradford District. When funding for the post expired, I managed a project that was part of a national pilot program to encourage and enable young people to be aware of the services available should they become a victim of crime. As well as setting up a reactive service, the project aimed to be pro active and I delivered sessions in schools and other youth settings to groups from 6 to 300 on subjects such as bullying, hate crime, domestic violence and the criminal justice system as well as many others. At the end of funding I became Volunteer Manager, managing a pool of around 100 volunteers that carried out all the front line work for the organisation. In 2009 I left Victim Support and go to University to top up my HND to a degree, studying social science subjects and in June 2010 I graduated from Bradford Uni with a BSc (Hons) in Combined Studies. Part of my research focussed on the effects of domestic abuse in same sex relationships and the situation of male victim - female perpertrator. My dissertation focussed on the effects of bullying, with a particular emphasis on the effects of cyber bullying.I recently completed a MA in Sociology, Social Policy and Crime, having completed modules in Gendered Transitions, Contemporary Criminal Justice, Research Methodologies, Policing and Crime and Contemporary Sociology. I completed my thesis on the link between the criminal justice system and the care system.I\'m looking forward to starting my PhD focussing on youth homelessness, youth crime, the care system and social capital.
