ABOUT TIM VALLANCE

For more than three decades I have advised institutional investors, listed companies and private capital on the acquisition, disposal and strategic repositioning of retail-led real estate across the UK and Europe.My career has spanned several real estate cycles and the profound transformation of retail over the past decade. I have advised on transactions involving shops, shopping centres, retail parks, leisure destinations and grocery-anchored real estate, working with global pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, REITs, private equity investors and corporate occupiers. Many of the assets I have helped buy, sell and reposition continue to perform successfully today — something I regard as a reflection of disciplined strategy, market insight and long-term thinking.At JLL, my role spans both the UK and European capital markets with a particular focus on retail, leisure and grocery-anchored investments where I have a 30+ year transaction track record. Increasingly my work sits across the capital stack, working closely with JLL’s equity advisory, debt and structured finance teams and international capital specialists to help clients deploy and recycle capital effectively.While relationships and experience remain fundamental, modern real estate advisory must combine deep market knowledge with data, research and technology. Leveraging JLL’s global research platform, proprietary data and analytics — alongside rich and trusted relationships — helps identify structural trends early and deliver robust solutions for clients.Alongside transaction work I have held leadership roles including Leader of Retail Capital Markets at JLL, President of REVO, Chairman of Japan House, Services, Retail Chairman and Head of National Capital Markets. I currently sit on the European Capital Markets Leadership Board, EMEA Retail Board and International Capital Relations Board.A professional passion of mine is placemaking. Through JLL’s “Redefining Retail Places” research programme I have travelled extensively studying successful retail and mixed-use destinations and applying those insights to investment strategies and the evolution of retail environments.I am always interested in strategic conversations around capital allocation, investment strategy and the evolution of place-based businesses, and in contributing my experience through strategic advisory and non-executive roles.Outside work I enjoy open-water swimming, surfing, reading, great food and wine and spending time with my family.
