ABOUT TIM SCHULTZ
I realize that I might be somewhat unusual these days, in that I spent over 23 years at one company. It was a case of the right challenge being presented to me at the right time to satisfy my need to learn and grow. The challenge started the first day in a print production role. I had no training in the role I started in. My manager knew I learned quickly, and within 6 months I was doing the most complex work that our department did. As the printing started moving from analog to digital, I was introduced to the Macintosh workstation. Soon I was solving problems, developing workflows, and training fellow team members. I moved into IT, and then was asked to lead the Mac team, then I asked to create a App Support team. Later I was given a service desk and data management team. Finally I reinvented myself into a disaster recovery role. It is difficult to show in a resume the breadth of experience that I have gained over that time. I have helped establish a baseline of risk and impact across areas of information security. I have created and reported on metrics to c-suite leadership. I have created process and workflows for both technical and operational teams. I created numerous access controls and established access reviews for ISO 27001 auditing. I have had good leadership, peers, and teams over my career. That allowed me to- Make decisions and stand by them - Always admit mistakes and problems, and always bring solutions along - Never ask anyone to do anything that I wouldn’t do Through all this I have discovered that I understand process really quickly, either a technical process, or a business process. This is where I excel. I want to know how things work. I want to know how things fit together. I like to see the big picture. My time at one company has come to an end, and I am seeking a new workplace to use my skills and experiences, where I can continue that learning and growing for the benefit of my employer as well as myself.
