ABOUT TIM ROADS

As well as being an eco-warrior at heart, I also love great food & drink. These passions, and the aim to leave the world in a better place environmentally than I found it, were the driving forces in our creation of Schop and my work at NatureScot. I am passionate about improving biodiversity by creating more space for nature and helping to sustain our vital ecosystem services. As part of the POBAS (Piloting and Outcomes Based Approach in Scotland) team, I hope to help create agricultural subsidy systems which protect nature, sequester carbon and help to sustainably produce great quality food. As well as being a huge advocate of the outstanding quality, and value, of food and drink from local independent farms, producers and retailers (as opposed to large supermarket chains), I am also increasingly frustrated with the amount of unnecessary, and quite frankly patronising, amount of packaging on food, most of which ends up in landfill or worse in the natural environment and the stomachs of animals. To counter that Totty Horn and I created Schop, which allows our customers to buy sustainably packaged food & drink from local (to the customer), independent shops on https://schop.co, which we then deliver with our carbon-neutral delivery service. This allows Schop\'s customers to make a simple, convenient (and delicious) choice which makes a genuine, tangible difference to the environment. Great produce, great value and convenience all at the click of a button! I am also a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer, working for Athene Associates, and have experience of valuing and providing advice on rural and semi-urban property throughout Scotland and northern England. More specifically, I am experienced in carrying out a range of professional work including valuations, development work, strategic estate management and purchase & sale advice. In addition to my experience as a surveyor, I also run a commercial business (Schop) which allows me to have a sustainably commercial perspective on property management and investments.
