   Recruited by SRC to develop and lead their Chem-Bio Business Unit, which performed leading-edge systems development and integration (e.g, the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System, and Novel Threat Agent [NTA] environmental sensing), and new technology development (e.g, novel bio identification assays and decontamination technologies). Note: These technologies are designed to protect military and civilian lives from the weapons of mass destruction. • Developed and implemented the business strategy and the ISO-9001 certified quality procedures for the new chem-bio business unit. • Designed and managed the build-out of a laboratory suite for key technology development and testing. Results: Received Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Certification. • Developed and led a team of 10 chem-bio defense professionals that included biologists, chemical engineers and chemists, engineers and product managers. • Achievement: Won three patents related to the development of the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS) prototype effort, and supporting bio identification technologies. • Led the business development and proposal efforts for the JBTDS Technology Development contract. Results: Awarded the JBTDS contract and won a follow-on contract for a Joint US Forces/Korea technology demonstration. • Assigned SRC Program Manager for work on the Joint Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance System Increment 2 (JNBCRS 2) program, one of the Department of Defense’s largest efforts in nonmedical chemical and biological defense. This system provides military personnel with a suite of equipment to safely handle any chem, bio or radiological event.
