Groundwater is a vital natural resource in Southwest Ohio, serving as the primary source of drinking water for nearly all residents in Butler County. It also plays a critical role in supporting major industries and agriculture in the region. Since February I have served as the Manager of the Hamilton to New Baltimore Groundwater Consortium—a unique collaboration of five public utilities and two private companies committed to safeguarding both surface and groundwater resources.As one of the few public/private, multi-supplier Source Water Protection Programs in the United States, the Consortium implements a range of proactive environmental management strategies to protect our region’s water supply. Water is often taken for granted, yet it is essential to the health of our ecosystems, communities, and economy. Protecting this invaluable resource from contamination remains a central mission of the Consortium and a responsibility I take seriously.
