ABOUT TIM MCKENNA-BUCHANAN

Dr. Tim McKenna-Buchanan is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and University Assessment Coordinator at Manchester University, where he has taught 16 unique courses in organizational communication, public relations, and the basic communication course. A passionate teacher, he fosters belonging and accountability in the classroom through hands-on, discussion-driven learning experiences. As University Assessment Coordinator, he has provided strong academic leadership by (1) creating the program learning initiative an initiative focused on highlighting data-informed continuous improvement,(2) leading accreditation efforts with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and (3) promoting cross-department collaboration. Dr. McKenna-Buchanan\'s research explores instructional communication with a focus on student retention and trauma-informed pedagogy, with publications in Communication Education, Communication Teacher, Departures in Critical Qualitative Research, and the Basic Communication Course Annual. Dr. McKenna-Buchanan is co-editor of The Routledge Handbook of Public Speaking Research and Theory (2024), co-author of Communication Across Contexts: A Listening-Centered Approach (3rd Edition, Forthcoming), and contributor to multiple edited volumes in the discipline.
