About Tim Kolb
My career in video and interactive media production has really been a career about effective communication.I\'ve worked on projects ranging from agency-designed television commercials to network sports to documentaries as a writer, director, DP/videographer, field engineer, editor, and post effects. I\'ve designed and directed live corporate conferences around the U.S. and beyond, and industry-focused webcasting.Technical topics and training are of particular interest to me and I\'ve leveraged that into training, technical writing, product management, and even a temporary reassignment to IT as a CRM/LMS administrator supporting my current employer. Some non-production roles:Trainer.for Adobe TV, BorisFX, Class On Demand, CineForm, FXPHD.com, NAB Post Production World, and Tiffen, for user classes, dealer training, and web tutorials.Technical Writer/Author.for Adobe Press, CineForm, Digieffects, Focal Press, and Pearson. as author, contributor and technical editor for industry books and product documentation. I have also written a variety of trade magazine and web articles (many of which are listed below).Demo Artist/Technical Presenter.for trade shows and product tours for Adobe, AJA, Canopus (now part of Grass Valley), CineForm (now part of GoPro), Digieffects, Microsoft, Silicon Imaging, and Sony.Chief Product Officer.for Digieffects after Robert Sharp acquired the company, along with Buena Effects and Walker Effects with primary focus on re-alignment, integration, and structure of varied I.P. portfolios to create new product lines including \"Digieffects Damage\" visual effects software.I have had far more chances to learn than teach. I doubt I\'ll ever level that out, but I\'ll keep trying.

After having a larger staff and a partner through the 1990\'s, I went on my own, fulfilling different roles in different circumstances. I am likely best known as a commercial/corporate video director and editor in the Midwest, I\'ve done DP work on documentaries in New England and the Twin Cities, I advise several manufacturers and write technical documents including manuals for various products in the industry. I write magazine and web articles for the industry as well as speak to trade groups, and train professionals in the industry when called upon for post-workflow consulting. Recently I\'ve been doing more customer testimonial work, which is made easier by my being a one-person self-contained package that travels (relatively) easily.
