ABOUT TIM JOHNS

A very experienced landscape and urban designer with over 30 years professional experience in the transport, education, housing, green infrastructure and energy infrastructure sectors. This experienced has been gained in both a consultancy and local authority setting and I have a flexible and adaptable approach enabling me to work in collaboration and promote the importance of design with a range of professional disciplines. My responsibilities have also included managing staff, financial reporting and business development. • Lead for North Yorkshire & York Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS)- published February 2026 • Project manager of a number of complex infrastructure planning, masterplanning and urban design projects requiring the co-ordination of inputs from a range of specialisms• Client and stakeholder briefing on a range of green infrastructure planning and design projects to assist in better understanding of key concepts and principles • Extensive public consultation on a range of urban and rural based projects; using focus groups, workshops and exhibitions to engage with the public• Member of the Landscape Institute’s professional review group for the landscape architecture undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU); this has involved review of the course content, critique of teaching approach and briefing prospective landscape architecture students • Speaker on green infrastructure planning and design at the Royal Town Planning Institute Wales conference (2013)• Guest lecturer to students of Landscape Architecture students at MMU • Advised the judging panel for the policy and research category of the Landscape Institute Awards (2012) • Places Matter!
