ABOUT TIM HICKMAN
I am an electrical engineer working in the renewable energy sector. My experience and skills are concentrated primarily in commercial and industrial solar PV as well as battery storage, and electrical infrastructure projects. My core skills are communication and organisation, and applying these to the experience and knowledge I have of solar PV systems. My core services are:System Inspections: Comprehensive assessment of existing systems for compliance, quality, best practice. Including qualitative DC testing and thorough reporting. My clients are the leading EPCs, developers, asset managers/owners in Europe.Design & Specification Steering & Review: Always best to avoid snags, non-compliance items etc by ensuring the design is right. Often provided as a service to developers preparing to tender projects or EPCs wanting expert design input to get things right first time.Quality Control: Inspection of ongoing works to ensure design and regulatory compliance. Very important at the very beginning of projects to avoid snags and catch poor construction practices early.Testing & Commissioning: DC cold commissioning on commercial and utility scale sites using the best testing equipment and understanding of what the test results actually mean. Often to string IEC 62446 standards. Mentoring: Supporting engineering teams, PV designers and technicians. Passing on 20 years of hands on PV experience to others.@Polygrid: This is an independent engineering company providing advisory and onsite services to the solar PV sector.@Zamgrid: I co-own a solar and electrical contracting business in Zambia, where my primary objective is to accelerate the utilisation of solar PV and share knowledge and experience. Zamgrid is the main provider of solar PV installation and maintenance services to several leading NGOs operating in the region and leading supplier of commercial and residential solar PV in the Copperbelt and beyond.
