   Pittsburgh Winery is a boutique urban winery and music venue located in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District with roots going back nearly 15 years. Winemaker and owner Tim Gaber began his winemaking career as a hobby among friends making small batches of wine the old fashioned way. He soon became impassioned about everything wine and wine making and began to collaborate with seasoned vintners in California and to study at UC Davis in order to sharpen his winemaking skills. The hobby became a little something more when he founded a small private winery with a partner in 2008, but Tim quickly grew out of the partnership and decided to move to launch an authentic brand on a larger scale. In 2012 Pittsburgh Winery was founded in the old bank building located at 2815 Penn Avenue. Urban wineries do not own vineyards so they have the opportunity to bring in wine grapes from some of the best vineyards in the world. Premium California and Chilean fruit is sourced and this quality fruit along with an imaginative winemaking style results in hand crafted, fine wines that are anything but ordinary.
