About Timothy Barnhart

I’m an engineering and operations leader with a passion for building collaborative, high-functioning teams that deliver results. With deep experience in power systems and manufacturing, I’ve led multidisciplinary groups through complex challenges—always with a focus on transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.Currently, I serve as the IPS Integration Lead for DDG(X) at R&P Technology, where I provide strategic engineering leadership in naval electrical power and propulsion systems. My role bridges technical innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration, guiding the integration of complex shipboard systems. I lead the development of IPS concepts of operations, manage lifecycle requirements, and drive alignment across technical working groups. My work supports decision-making through trade space analysis and configuration management, ensuring cohesive design integration and performance across domains.Previously, I was a Senior Systems Engineering Manager at Hepburn and Sons, where I led engineering teams conducting SBIR research into advanced naval power systems. I applied Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to drive innovation and rigor in electrical R&D, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.At GE Vernova, I managed manufacturing operations at our Findlay, PA facility, growing the site from a startup into a fully operational business unit. I implemented lean principles and performance metrics that elevated safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while fostering a culture of disciplined execution and open communication.Earlier, I led a team of over 20 engineers focused on customer delivery and organizational development, introduced systems for measuring engineering performance, and drove continuous improvement. My background also includes managing a PMO at Alcoa/Arconic’s R&D Center and leading global engineering teams at GE to deliver retrofit and automation upgrades for industrial clients.Whether I’m guiding shipboard integration, leading factory operations, or managing complex R&D programs, I bring consistent focus on people, process, and performance.
