ABOUT TIM BALDWIN

I am a career educator with over 30 years of experience teaching in formal and non-formal, local and international, private and public, secondary and higher education contexts. I also founded and directed a non-profit ministry that walked alongside immigrants and refugees, providing counseling, education, and friendship. After serving in that capacity for almost ten years, I moved to Chicago to complete a doctoral program in Educational Studies. While finishing my studies, I taught MA and Ph.D. level courses at TEDS\'s Deerfield, Dolton, and Pittsburgh campuses. My dissertation explored Latin@ undergraduate students\' perceptions of their teacher-facilitated learning experiences in PWI classrooms. Most recently I served as the BridgeBuilders Program Director at Sunshine Gospel Ministries in South Chicago. Together with my staff, I developed and oversaw an experiential service-learning program for visiting youth, college and adult groups from all over the country. We emphasized reciprocity, healthy relationships and sustainable ministry within the framework of \"Listen. Learn. Serve. Return.\" I frequently make presentations, lead workshops, consult, write and teach on subjects related to hospitable practice, social justice, intercultural understanding, and culturally responsive pedagogy. I am also field testing a teaching and learning model that foregrounds hospitable, culturally responsive practice(s).
