ABOUT TILMAN BRÜCK

Tilman\'s research focuses on the economics of household behaviour, well-being and food security in conflict-affected and fragile economies and in times of climate change, including the measurement of violence and conflict in household surveys and the impact evaluation of programs in conflict-affected and fragile areas. He has published over sixty articles in peer-reviewed journals (including Demography, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Peace Research, Journal of Comparative Economics, and World Development) and edited over a dozen books and special issues of journals on the economics of conflict and insecurity. Tilman is Professor at Humboldt-University of Berlin, Team Leader at IGZ near Berlin and the Founder and Director of the ISDC - International Security and Development Center. He is also a Research Affiliate of the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon and a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA). He is a co-founder and co-director of the „Households in Conflict Network (HiCN)“ and the Principal Investigator of the \"Life in Kyrgyzstan Study\" and the \"Life with Corona Survey\". Tilman was previously a Professor at the Natural Resources Institute, Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Director of SIPRI, Professor of Development Economics at Humboldt-University of Berlin and Head of the Department of Development and Security at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). He has also worked as a consultant for the BMZ, European Commission, DFID, GIZ, ILO, KfW, OECD, UNDP, USAID and the World Bank. He studied economics at the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford and obtained his doctorate in economics from the University of Oxford.
