I have joined Kent Educational Psychology Service on a two-year contract as part of a highly regarded Assistant Educational Psychologist (AEP) programme, in preparation for entry onto the Doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology.My role involves:Supporting statutory Educational Health and Care Needs Assessments through professional clerking, information gathering, and pupil/parent voice work.Collaborating with Educational Psychologists to deliver early intervention and inclusion-focused projects across Kent’s Communities of Schools.Undertaking structured observations, contributing to training development, and evaluating the impact of interventions.Engaging in regular individual and group supervision to reflect on practice, develop applied psychology skills, and enhance professional competence.Contributing to service-wide research, innovation, and evidence-based practice to promote positive outcomes for children and young people.This opportunity enables me to combine hands-on educational psychology practice with ongoing CPD, with the expectation of progressing to doctoral training.

ABOUT TANISHA PEARSON
I am Tanisha Pearson, and I have recently graduated with a First Class BSc Hons Psychology with Mental Health (Placement year) degree. I am particularly interested in how all behaviour is communicated through actions. I have completed a yearlong full-time placement as part of my degree this has shown me how psychology can directly influence education. I was able to research the impact of Comprehensive Applied Behavioural Analysis to schooling (CABAS). My final year project focused on exploring psychology at work. I wanted to focus in on compassion fatigue within teachers and how organisations can support teachers further. Following on from Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory I wanted to explore the quality of the environment surrounding children because to help a child develop well, they need a good support network. I have found my studies of psychology very rewarding, and I look forward to being part of the future generation supporting children and young people in education.
