The Nature Conservancy’s Aquaculture By Design Strategy centers on harnessing the positive benefits of aquaculture to achieve a triple bottom line of enhanced coastal ecosystem recovery, increased seafood production, and sustainable livelihoods for local coastal communities. Our vision is for marine aquaculture to significantly contribute to the restoration of coastal ecosystems while supporting livelihoods and producing sustainable seafood. Our Global Marine Aquaculture Strategy consists of two distinct, but complementary pillars: Restorative Aquaculture — Harness the potential of commercial marine aquaculture to accelerate coastal ecosystem restoration; and Smart Aquaculture Growth — Improve planning and siting of new aquaculture operations to minimize impact while supporting good actors *Co-develops Global Aquaculture strategy and is liaison between global and local chapters, working closely with field programs to develop new projects, support existing aquaculture projects, and facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.
