With the significant goal of improving our strategic community engagement, I was promoted to build out a brand-new leadership position, create new programs, streamline existing processes and cultivate partnerships. I quickly determined the focus of this work would be liaising between internal stakeholders and external opportunities, weaving the staff into the process in a more meaningful way. Through increased transparency and engagement, we advanced staff preparedness and buy-in for visits from policy makers, congressional staff, NOAA, NASA and private industry leaders.Additional components of our success have been responsive leadership, cross-organizational mapping, cross-functional working groups, formalized processes and data collection, and improved efficiencies. I have broken down siloes and managed a strategic presence.I manage a team of one and recently, our focus has shifted to streamlining fundraising approach and processes– I love a challenge!
