As a member of the Conservation team within the Environment and Climate Change department, my role actively supports our Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCA) initiative. This program aims to secure and conserve private lands across Alberta, establishing them as part of a growing, culturally grounded protected area network. My role includes conducting both remote and on-the-ground assessments for potential land acquisitions, and assisting with ongoing monitoring and ecological management once lands are secured. This includes wildlife surveys using trail cameras, acoustic recording units (ARUs), bat and bird monitoring (e.g, barn swallows), and herptile surveys using coverboards. I also build out online content for our programs, whether that be through social media platforms, our website, our Bi-weekly newsletter, or through interactive ESRI StoryMaps. Furthermore, I manage all bee-focused programming within the department. This includes coordinating our staff-led bumble bee monitoring program on our IPCA in Lamont County (currently funding through AFSAR), for which I developed the protocol, trained staff, and lead the species identification. I also oversee our Native Bee Conservation Program, which involves over Métis citizens across Alberta. This includes managing program logistics such as procuring and distributing Bee Kits, developing and updating educational content, and coordinating outreach through web and social media platforms.

ABOUT TIFFANI HARRISON
I completed my Honours Bachelor in Environmental Studies with specialization in Environmental Management from York University. My combined education, work and volunteer experience have allowed me to develop practical hands-on skills complemented with a solid theoretical base. To-date my career has been focused on pollinators (and pollinator SAR), with a specialization in bumble bees. My passion for pollinator conservation and recovery has only grown over the years. I have worked with NGO\'s to help research, monitor and raise awareness about pollinator species, and those at-risk. Although I have built a strong background in pollinators thus far, both in terms of working experience and expertise, I still possess a strong desire to continue to learn about and work with other SAR and other taxa. I also have an interest in community engagement and outreach through environmental education, stewardship and community science. As of Nov 202, I completed my MEnvSc in Conservation and Biodiversity at the University of Toronto\'s Scarborough campus. The Conservation and Biodiversity field of study has a major focus of the application of ecological theory and principles to real-world conservation challenges.
