About Tibor Balint

I am a Principal Designer at JPL\'s Human Centered Design Group within the Mission Systems & Operations Section. In my PhD research within the Royal College of Art\'s Innovation Design Engineering Program I have explored the roles of cybernetics and human centered design, to create new perspectives and foster design conversations that may broaden technology driven paradigms and advance technological innovation in society. My particular focus is on applying my perspectives to the operations and structure of a space agency. Before coming to London in 2014 to focus on my research, I have spent 4 years at NASA-HQ as the Senior Technical Advisor; the Program Executive for the Game Changing Development Program at the Space Technology Mission Directorate; and a Senior Technologist at the Office of the Chief Technologist. For the prior 8 years at JPL I was a mission architect and technologist. I have earned my first PhD in engineering from Warwick University, UK; and received my Masters degrees from Exeter University, UK (MPhil); from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary (MSc); and from the International Space University, France (MSS). I am a full member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
