About Tianyi X.
I received my BA in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College, with a concentration in international relations and U.S. law. My research focus includes constitutional law, national security law and legal theory. I minored in English with a focus on literary theory, cultural studies and film criticism.My work at the Anti-Fraud Coalition (TAF Coalition) focused on substantive analysis of plaintiff\'s side qui tam litigation and enforcement summaries. I am a native of Shenzhen, China, and fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English. I have contributory experience in writing on U.S-China relations and U.S. foreign policy regarding security and tech. I graduated as a managing editor for the Bowdoin Orient, the nation’s oldest continuously published college weekly.My senior research project, “The Norm of Exception: Post 9/11 Enemy Combatant Jurisprudence and the American State of Exception,” explores theories and practice of modern sovereign power in the U.S. manifested in the unitary executive theory, as well as executive privilege and immunity. I wrote throughout college on ideological transformations within both the United States and China, with respect to nationalism, foreign policy and domestic inequalities.
