ABOUT TIAGO RIBEIRO DE OLIVEIRA

I am an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Universidade Federal do ABC - UFABC, with over 10 years of experience in the field of image-guided therapy systems. I hold a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Universidade de São Paulo, and I have completed research fellowships at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women\'s Hospital, and Duke University. My research program focuses on developing and applying innovative methods to deliver drugs to the brain by temporarily disrupting the blood-brain barrier I use various clinical imaging modalities (MRI, CT, and ultrasound) and spectroscopy techniques (fluorescence, absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance, and light scattering) to monitor and evaluate the opening and drug delivery. I also design and implement RF/microwave systems for mechanical and thermal perturbations of the My goal is to advance the treatment of brain tumors and functional neurological disorders using focused ultrasound (FUS) technology and other minimally invasive approaches.
