ABOUT THYAGARAJA MARATHE

Experienced engineer/researcher with a demonstrated history of working on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver hardware, software and associated techniques.Currently, assessing various aspects of PNT using low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Worked in the recent past on developing a GNSS high accuracy corrections service that would enable sub-meter level user position accuracy required for a variety of use cases (e.g. automotive, robotics, IoT, and other mass-market applications). Domain knowledge and skills acquired during professional/academic career: Programming Embedded Software, C / MATLAB / Assembly-level programming for DSPs and SoCs, HDL programming for FPGAs using VHDL Prototyping and debugging User positioning methods (e.g. SPP, D-GNSS, RTK, and estimation techniques (e.g. Least squares, Kalman filtering) Strong understanding of base-band signal processing algorithms for multiple RF and multi-GNSS applications Design, development, and testing of GNSS base-band processor Development of efficient algorithms for commercial/high-grade receivers Working knowledge on multi-GNSS signal structure and signal/data processing Understanding of detection and estimation techniques as applied to positioning and navigation Good understanding of DSP and FPGA architectures (Analog Device’s SHARC & Blackfin family of processors, Spartan series FPGAs from Xilinx, basic working knowledge on ARM7) Understanding of military and space grade product design life cycle Knowledge of pseudolite system operation, and integration of such systems and other sensors with GPS Working knowledge on coordinate conversions and receiver/satellite data formats (for e.g. RINEX, SP3) GNSS interference resilience using antenna array processing Weak signal processingCourses attended at the University of Calgary Special Studies on topics in GNSS (Topic: GNSS Interference characterization, detection and mitigation) Estimation for Navigation Discrete Time Signal Processing Applied Mathematics for Electrical Engineers Advanced GNSS Theory GNSS Receiver Design Inertial Surveying and INS/GPS Integration
