Assist in multiple projects focused on novel gene therapy and gene editing strategies for infectious, genetic, and malignant diseases. Responsible for making assay solutions, maintaining/overseeing the repair of laboratory apparatus and instruments, washing and cleaning laboratory areas and equipment, and inventorying/ordering chemicals, samples, supplies, and equipment as needed. Additional projects include PCR and processing of primary blood and tissue samples and participation in novel assay development. These tasks focused primarily on samples infected with HIV and related viruses, although applying similar approaches for other diseases and pathologies were explored. This position worked under the PI, lab manager, a senior member of the laboratory, and along with research technicians.
