ABOUT THOMAS PEACH
I am the Academic Services Manager in a small but growing Higher Education Library & Learning Service, leading a learning development team of 17 Librarians, Study and Maths Development Tutors, and Digital and Assistive Technology Training Tutors. I lead and collaborate on the successful institutional provision of learning development across academic, information, digital and maths literacies to a community of students and 1500 staff at 3 campuses. I am project lead on designing and delivering key aspects in the student journey including our Welcome VLE module, and our institutional approach to positive assessment submission. I am also an accessibility specialist, leading the University’s Accessibility Support Service, providing expertise in accessibility and inclusive practice. I also oversee the leading and management of the University Archives and Special Collections from within my team. I am a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, as well as a mentor and assessor/reviewer for the Fellowship process. As a leader, I am focused on developing and delivering: inclusive and disability confident recruitment and management; kind and brave leadership; disability advocacy; evidence-based, person-centred teaching and learning.My writing and research is currently exploring: kindness in leadership; teaching and learning in professional services; crip information literacy futures.Recently, I have been an Interim Head of Library and Learning Services, strategically leading of a Library and Learning Service across a multi-campus network including: Customer and Print Services; Scholarly Content, Communication and Discovery; and Academic Services. I deliver my leadership within a Senior leadership team in Student Success and Learning Services, leading and influencing across teaching, learning, and research.More widely within the HE sector, I am a mentor for Academic Libraries North (ALN), and I sit on ALN’s Associate Directors group, and SCONUL’s Deputy Directors group.I am a qualified librarian with an MSc in Information & Library Studies. CILIP, ALDinHE and UCISA member. I am also a project manager with PRINCE2 Foundation Certification, and a CELTA-qualified English teacher.My prior work was as a musicologist with specialisms in musical theatre musicology, identity and multidisciplinary studies. Research interests focus on LGBTQ+ identities in musical theatre.I have been a musical director and stage manager for 10 years in community and youth theatre.
