Now semi-retired and an independent consultant & advisor, Tom recently was a Principal consultant with North Highland, a global provider of business and IT consulting services. He was accountable for growing the Global Retail & Consumer Products Industry practice by bringing expertise and talent to bear on the client\'s most challenging problems. Prior to this new role and his relocation to the Seattle market, he was a lead in CIO Services in the Charlotte market area working with a number of client CIOs on Information Technology management, processes and related benefit realization. He has 35+ years of IT and business experience in the transportation and retail industries. Prior to joining North Highland, Tom held numerous executive positions including: • President of Peak Tech Consulting LLC where as an independent consultant he worked with a number of C-level retail executives on business and IT strategies as well as providing execution oversight. • Vice President of Information Systems at the nation’s largest retail grocer, Kroger. At Kroger, he was responsible for in-store, supply chain, manufacturing, and human resource systems; computer operations and telecommunications; technical architecture; and end-user systems. • Vice President of Information Technology for the global ocean freight carrier, Sea-Land Service, Inc. His responsibilities included information systems strategy, implementation, and business benefit realization in an IT organization that spanned the world. • Director of International Applications for Federal Express Corporation where he managed applications for import and export control, freight manifest management, and sales and financial applications.
