ABOUT TOM JOHNSTON

I\'m an ambitious and committed digital-first journalist and producer. My experience in broadcast newsrooms has provided me with a firm grounding in multi-platform journalism. Whether gathering stories out in the field or researching and producing the programme on the newsroom floor, I have a firm understanding of the skills required to write, shoot, edit and broadcast high quality television and radio news. I can also work across platforms, producing video and written content to a high journalistic standard. My skills in social media and my digital-first approach to news help me meet the changing demands of a fast-paced and ever-changing digital newsroom. I champion equality and inclusion and have a strong sense of social justice, believing the media should provide a platform for underrepresented voices while also holding power to account - with editorial balance, fairness and accuracy. I approach each new challenge with a can-do attitude, with the drive, tenacity and self-discipline to continue improving myself.
