ABOUT TOM BAILEY

I currently work for Optimum Medical which is looking to disrupt the medical devices market by bringing cutting edge tech to streamline the prescription ordering process for thousands of patients. We have already released Vyne Online, the best-in-class medical device prescription ordering service, and will continue to improve and refine our offerings to give our patients the easiest, slickest and most personal service available.I was previously very lucky to have the chance to take the CTO role at Life Ninja and create the direction for a company that allowed primary schools to move from fragmented digital tools to a simple, streamlined joined up approach. The focus was on building the Life Ninja Network around free core apps of Message ninja (communications hub) and Learning ninja (home learning hub)Building on that were content apps that plugged-into the network giving a joined up student, teacher and parent view of the student\'s learning. Zap Maths was and still is an example of this, bringing the full primary school maths curriculum to life through games, quizzes, tournaments, and fun storylines.I have always tried to focus on agile (scrumban) and lean development processes to allow fast feedback to give direction to my work.I previously worked for over 8 years at the very cool e-retail company Ocado in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. My role there was as a Solutions Architect mainly focused on the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) and working with high profile retail clients to enable them to use OSP as effectively as possible. I have had many roles in Ocado including developer, senior developer, team leader, and Product Owner. These roles were all within the Employee Systems domain developing the HR, training, recruitment, directory, holiday, and timesheets systems. Before Ocado I worked at IBM for over 8 years. During this time I worked in the support and testing areas, specialising to some degree in functional test. This culminated in the role of Test Architect for the WebSphere Service Registry & Repository product where we automated almost all of our Functional testing.
