About Thomas Heaton
Making my way through Intel Corporation, currently as an Engineering Manager in technology development at the Chandler AZ location. Over the last ~10 years I have worked to develop Ni, Pd, Au & Sn Surface Finish, Cu electroplating and dielectric lamination processes for applications in microelectronics. As a PhD student, my research was focused on combining surface stress and electrochemical measurements for a variety of applications. Mainly I explored the copper damascene process and chemistries as they pertain to silicon chip metallization. Additionally, I participated in the study of hydrogen intercalation in Pd thin films, zinc electrodeposition from ionic liquid electrolytes, carbon monoxide poisoning and oxidation on platinum and ruthenium thin films, as well as electrocapillarity and oxygen reduction on platinum and gold electrodes.While I am open to a wide variety of new opportunities and engineering challenges, I have a particular interest in fundamental physical & chemical concepts and practices as applied packaging & substrate development.Specialties-Electroplating & Electrochemistry, Surface science, Surface stress measurements, dielectric film lamination & optimization, Materials science & engineering, Chemical engineering & Bilingual (spanish-english) proficiency- Microsoft Office, Visio, Microcal Origin, Mathematica, Matlab, JMP
