New Haven is one of the largest school districts in the State of Connecticut. In my role as Chief Operating Officer for the New Haven Public Schools, I manage a real estate portfolio of more than 45 schools and support spaces totaling approximately 4.5 million square feet with varying ages and conditions. The areas that I oversee in support of this portfolio for the district are school construction and project management, facilities management services, information technology services, security services, student transportation, food services, print management services, legal services, and contract management. This includes an annual operating budget across operations departments in general of approximately $90 million with an additional $2 million in annual capital funds and $15 million in grant funding for capital projects. Represent the school district as a standing member of the board of education food service task force, finance and operations committee, citywide building stewardship committee, and voting member of the city of New Haven Energy Committee. Development and coordination of services to the school district with various City of New Haven stakeholders including, the City of New Haven Board of Aldermen and various committees, the mayor’s office, City of New Haven Corporation Counsel, Police and Fire Departments, Emergency Management Office, Parks, and Recreation Department, and Public Works. Additionally, I am leading the school district and city of New Haven leadership in the development and refinement of a real estate facilities master plan, facilities conditions assessment, school safety and security plan progress, and a capital planning process revision.
