Contribute as a Young Expert to Youth-GEMs, a €9.7M Horizon Europe project coordinated by Maastricht University that investigates gene–environment interactions underlying mental health trajectories in young people (ages 12–24). Participate in monthly Science Café sessions with researchers across 18 European and Australian institutions, providing youth-informed feedback on study design, questionnaire accessibility, and data-science outputs. Leverage a neuroscience and computational-modelling background to help ensure epigenomic and predictive-modelling work packages translate into clinically meaningful, youth-centred tools.

ABOUT THOMAS CHALLENGER

Second-year neuroscience student at the University of Bristol with experience spanning computational modelling, cellular laboratory techniques, and participatory health research. I currently advise researchers across an 18-institution Horizon Europe consortium on epigenomic and predictive modelling approaches to youth mental health, and have hands-on experience conducting full in-vitro embryo production workflows in a zurich-based biotech startup. My primary interest lies in neuromodulation and brain-computer interfaces as therapeutic interventions for neuropsychiatric disorders with limited pharmacological options, including PTSD, ADHD, and treatment-resistant depression.
