ABOUT THOMAS WOLLINGER

I hold a master\'s degree from the Worcester Polytechnical Institute, USA, and a PhD with honors from the chair of embedded security at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. I have many years of management experience in start-up, multinational company as well as in the academic domain (adding today the skills in the public domain ). Today I am CEO of the Bochum economic development. 🧑‍I am responsible (with my colleague Rouven Beeck) for one of the largest and most innovative business development organizations in Germany. The 250 employees open doors, create prospects, are a strong partner for sustainable urban development and a point of contact for companies. In short: We are responsible to make companies in (and the once that want to come to) Bochum happy. Before the Bochum economic development, I was many years pioneer in automotive cyber security. I have been with ESCRYPT from the very beginning and was a major player in the founding of ESCRYPT GmbH, a spin-off of the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany, in 2004. With my great passion and expertise for security, I helped to pave the way of the former start-up into the leading company for automotive security. Under my leadership, the number of associates grew from 4 to 400, and worldwide sales, consulting and development offices were established. ETAS/Bosch acquired ESCRYPT in 2012 and ESCRYPT became a wholly owned subsidiary and today the team is fully integrated into ETAS as the Solution Field Cybersecurity.Please contact me if you want to network with me.
