As an Assistant Ecologist, I undertake desk-based work including carrying out ecological desk studies, writing a range of technical reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Precautionary Methods of Working (PMWs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) and some species-specific reports, plus various data analysis and mapping (bat sound analysis, QGIS, etc.). I have also assisted on a variety of field work, including protected/ priority species surveys (including for badgers, bats, breeding birds, otter, water vole and wintering birds), UKHab surveys, BNG condition assessments and Ecological Clerk of Work (ECoW) roles. I have recently obtained a provisional BSBI Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 indicating moderate plant identification skills.
