ABOUT THOMAS SITTEK

I lead AI strategy for a global asset manager with offices across the US, UK, EU and HK. My job is to make AI work in one of the most regulated industries on earth. That means building governance frameworks, managing vendor relationships, drafting policies, and training investment teams to use advanced tools without creating risk. I founded our AI Governance Committee and continue to champion it today, designing everything from incident-response protocols to model evaluation criteria. My interest in AI governance started early. While working at a leading private equity firm, I drafted one of the first generative AI policies in the industry, before most organisations had even considered the question. That experience taught me that the firms who move early on governance don\'t slow down innovation; they accelerate it by removing uncertainty. What separates me from most AI strategists is where I trained. I came up through fund law: structuring UCITS vehicles, negotiating ISDA Master Agreements, capital raises, and managing regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions. I\'ve sat across the table from institutional clients, external counsel, and regulators. That experience shapes how I think about AI deployment, not as a technology problem, but as a governance problem with technology at its centre.I\'ve been working with large language models since 2021, well before generative AI entered mainstream conversation.
