As a glacier guide with Franz Josef Glacier Guides, I deliver technical guiding services on one of New Zealand\'s most dynamic alpine environments — leading guests safely across glacial terrain through expert route planning, fixed-line management, and real-time hazard mitigation. My role spans technical guiding, interpretive education, and environmental stewardship, with an emphasis on creating memorable, safe, and inclusive experiences for diverse groups from around the world.I manage a broad range of responsibilities across daily operations — from weather observation and forecasting using meteograms and Skew-T diagrams, to helicopter operations support with Aérospatiale Écureuil aircraft, equipment audits, and large-scale team rescue scenarios. I also lead valley eco tours, sharing knowledge of native ecosystems, Māori culture and storytelling, glaciology, and the environmental changes shaping the landscape. With a strong foundation in alpine safety and guest experience, I\'ve developed a reputation for bringing together technical precision, clear communication, and genuine passion for the natural world to deliver an industry-leading standard of guiding.
