Consent patients and maintain patient data bases: Inform and consent patients in clinic; communicate with patients and their families about their role in the clinical research effort; maintain consent documents and regulatory binders; design and set up secured data bases to store protected health information and clinical data related to patients’ disease and treatment; write and submit protocols to the IRB; communicate with the IRB and Stanford privacy office. • Acquire human tissue samples from urologic oncology patients: Perform fine needle aspirates on resected tumor tissue; coordinate intraoperative fine needle aspirates in vivo during urologic oncology surgeries; monitor patient follow-up visits and distribute blood sample kits to acquire patient blood; act as liaison between the research team and various departments and floors within the hospital to facilitate the acquisition of patient tissue samples. • Perform novel research: process patient tissue samples; run nano-proteomic immunoassays; maintain laboratory supplies and equipment; perform literature searches and attend conferences to stay abreast of work in the field; perform data analysis; review abstract submissions; design experiments.
