I\'m currently the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting at DeKalb County School District, where I’ve spent the last year leading a fantastic team of Accountants (levels and II). My journey here has been both challenging and rewarding, and I\'ve enjoyed every step. Before this role, I spent 1 year and 7 months as Accounting Manager, 10 months as a Financial Reporting Accountant and 1 year as a Capital Outlay Accountant at DeKalb, where I gained in-depth knowledge of school district accounting. Prior to joining DeKalb, I worked as an Auditor for the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA) for 2 years and 6 months, focusing on school districts and federal financial aid audits. Seeing the accounting process from both sides has given me a unique perspective that I bring to my current role.I’m pretty tech-savvy, with strong skills in Excel and Word, and I’m well-versed in data translation, particularly with MUNIS and Crosspointe. I’m also very familiar with setting up general ledgers, managing payroll accounting, and handling all the everyday and complex accounting tasks that come my way. Throughout my career, I\'ve had the chance to work on several federal programs, helping with completion reports, monitoring, and ensuring compliance.Ultimately, I love what I do and take pride in creating accurate, compliant, and reliable financial practices. Plus, I enjoy helping my team grow and sharing what I\'ve learned along the way.
