About Thomas Koch
I am currently a senior guidance, navigation, and control engineer at Blue Origin. Our team develops complex guidance and control algorithms for autonomous operation of launch vehicles. Prior to my current role, I was an engineering supervisor and lead engineer for the flight control laws team at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. I had roles in the development of stability and control augmentation and autopilot algorithms for all Boeing fly-by-wire models and the computing architectures to enable them.In addition to my various experiences within the flight controls organization, I also had the opportunity to serve as an Aerodynamic Stability & Control Flight test analysis engineer with significant experience in planning, executing, and documenting flight tests for the 787-8 and 747-8.I have a Master of Science in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Washington with a focus on aircraft flight dynamics and control, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. I am a graduate of the Boeing Leadership Development Excellence (LDE) program (now known as Leadership Next or LX).
