About Thomas Kelly
I am pursuing my PhD in computational chemistry at New York University with a focus in AI and drug discovery. My current research involves AI learning in chemistry and biology, adapting techniques from NLP. I am also currently working on a project with Schrödinger Bridges across Riemannian Manifolds. Outside of my research, I also lead the communications team at Nucleate, managing social media, distributing our monthly newsletter, and engaging partners and the community. We are also working to integrate AI systems to better understand our audience. I also organized the 2024 BioHack presented by Nucleate New York, the only NYC based AI x Bio hackathon. I continue to serve on the Chemists Club board, a organization committed to bridging the gap between the chemical industry and academia since 1894. Prior to joining Dr. Yingkai Zhangs lab, I developed interfaces using PL/SQL for Oracle EBS Applications, along with HCM extract to time-keeping vendors in Oracle Cloud as a developer intern for NorthPoint Group (Now Argano). I also was part of the team that assisted in transitioning Bank of Hawaii to the Oracle Cloud for enterprising systems. My undergraduate research was focused on quantum mechanics calculations, before shifting to a machine learning focus.
