About Thomas Irwin
I am a clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience in the treatment of addiction and dual diagnosis. I began my professional career in addiction treatment research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine investigating Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for drug and alcohol use disorders. Following my work at Mt. Sinai, I moved into more strictly clinical work, first as the Program Director for substance abuse services at The Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences at the Westchester campus. I then accepted a position with Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital. While there, I was the program director at the McLean Center at Fernside, one of the premier addiction/dual diagnosis treatment facilities in the country. For the past 8 years, I have focused exclusively on treating individuals, couples, and families struggling with addiction at The Center for Recovery.
