About Thomas Flaig

A medical oncologist by trade, I am the current vice chancellor for research for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. I’m also a history buff with a passion for research, innovation and the great outdoors. For me, there is nothing more worthwhile than mobilizing multi-disciplinary research teams to pursue scientific discoveries with the potential to save and improve lives. I first arrived at the University of Colorado in 2003 as an oncology fellow, specializing in bladder and prostate cancer. Throughout my career, I\'ve led many local and national multi-center clinical trials, including a large number of Phase I, II and studies. In addition to my clinical and research work, I’ve worked to support the significant expansion of the University of Colorado’s research enterprise. As vice chancellor, I continue to augment research collaborations, partnerships and growth at CU Anschutz | Denver, while streamlining and modernizing the infrastructure needed to support the 1,400+ clinical trials that are underway on our campus.It is my great privilege to help this world-class academic medical institution deliver on its mission of advancing life-changing new treatments, therapies and cures to improve humanity.
