ABOUT THOMAS EMERSON

Currently I am working at Howdens as a Manufacturing engineering manager. My team are responsible for capital projects in relation to machinery across our four existing manufacturing sites in the UK. My team are responsible for the successful initiation, planning, design, safety design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of the projects across all four of these sites.Recent work: I have led a team both in the UK and the US as the head of projects to procure, install and maintain a variety of woodworking machinery including cross/rip cut saws, edgebanders, through feed drills, CNC routers and so on. I have also been closely involved in the Stone aspect of kitchen worktop production and finishing. I have extensive experience in the use of AutoCad allowing me to design factories.(taking into account process flow/ fire strategy/machinery layouts)This has helped me not only get an understanding of the production aspects, engineering aspects, but it has also allowed me to get involved in things such as architecture, civil structures, legislation and insurance requirements.The sites which I work on:The sites which I work on are always investing in new machinery. The new machinery uses a range of modern platforms for example Beckhoff, Pilz, Siemens, Allan Bradley,THMI, Ethercat, Fanuc robot software and many more. The range of equipment has allowed me to gain a wide range of skills.I have had training in numerous subjects and on numerous platforms including Project Management/ EtherCat/ Beckhoff/ Health and Safety/ Sharepoint/ Pilz Safety/ First Aid and many more. I have also obtained a NEBOSH certificate.I have completed a BEng degree part time in Electrical and Electronic engineering achieving a First.
